Organizing the view

The view can be organized by sorting the content, grouping it or filtering. The following sections describe these features in details.

Sorting can be done by simply clicking on a column header field. The current content of the view is than sorted by this column. A second click does revers the sorting order. When grouping is active the sorting is done section-wise within every group.

Anther possibility to do sorting is using the View menu, Sort by. There you can selected the sort column, even hidden ones. The menu offers also the possibility to return the menu to a non sorted state, just choose ViewRemove Sorting.

Grouping is the feature of grouping tags with similar content under a common header. The header spans the complete table and is easy visible. You may either group by the columns which leads to groups with the same content for the selected column. Alternately you may group by a decade (using the Year column) or by detected possible duplicates. In that case you should also filter only tags with potential dupicates to hide all unique tags. Grouping can be done using the menu View - Group By.

You can ungroup by using the command View - Remove Grouping

Filtering means removing several tags from the view following a defined filter criteria. Currently only a few filter criteria are supported, namely filtering by contained string, marked duplicates and incomplete tags. All filters will notbe applied when the result set would be empty (andnothing would be displayed then). Instead a message in the statusbar will indicate that the filter leads to empty content. You can use several filters in a row. It is always the content filter which is displayed and not the complete loaded content. To start a new filter run you must reset the filtering first: View - Remove Filter or use the filter button in the toolbar. This filter button has a small red '-' signed in the bottom right corner when it will remove the applied filters.

Filtering by contained string

When chosen all tags are visible which do contain the entered search string. Yu can chose of the search string should exact appear in at least on of the attributes of a tag (Single string), if all words occur anywhere in a tag, regardless of the order and the attribute (All words, separation of words is done by whitespaces) or one of the entered words occures in a tag (Single word). Furthermore you can switch between a case sensitive and insensive search (Case sensitive). Please note that this is not the search facility of texel as it does filter out all unmatched lines instead of highlighting hits.

This filter can only be applied by entering the filter text in the corresponding text box in the toolbar and press return or the filter button left to the text field. When the filter button has a small green '+' in the right bottom corner the new filter will be applied, with a red '-' all filters will be removed.

Filtering for incomplete tags

Just tags are displayed where either title or artist is misising. This allows you to quickly find the tags where you should start first. You can filter by incomplete tags with View - Filter By - Incomplete tags.

Filtering for duplicates

Filters out all tags where no duplicate candidate was found for. You should always do a duplicate detection first. You can chose filtering duplicates only with View - Filter By - Marked Duplicates.
